This is a new acrylic painting on card continuing the theme of symbolism in traditional stories in contemporary settings.

Portraits completed at “Draw Brighton” at Artist Residence in biro, ink and oil pastel.  I like the challenge of committing to the line and not having a chance to erase any mark I make.

“Welcome to Youthtopia” is a film short I created with the help of filmmaker Chris Roe of Fat Fat Pebble.  It will be screened as a projection on the side of Brighton Youth Centre on 29th October as part of Brighton’s White Night festival.  Hopefully I’ll be able to post a video link when it’s done.

New Painting

A recent new painting in a series based around traditional stories in contemporary settings.  I wanted to see how few symbols the viewer needed to read the image and relate to stories that are part of the Western culture.  For some reason they seem to be featuring women who are waiting for something to happen…See the picture of sleeping beauty in an earlier post….

New Commission – Auto Body

  This is a commission for the US band Auto Body.  I work in acrylic on card which allows me to contrast flat colours (looking contemporary – eg; screen print revival and digital illustration) with more painterly marks (more traditional watercolour technique.)  It’ll be interesting to see where these take me…
